Neat tale. I definitely see the connection to how phones — and even digital banking — have become the default form of payment in many places, locking people without access to them out of commerce, too. I’m currently reading Octavia Butler’s “Lilith’s Brood” series, and l see a similar theme in this story about humanity’s resistance to change in what we are and how we think, albeit from a different angle. Thanks for sharing.
